Dr. Gregory Guelcher from Morningside College (Sioux City, Iowa, USA) was invited to present a lecture with the topic of “A Tale of Two Countries: China’s Manzhouguo and Japan’s Manshukoku” on June 5th, 2013. The lecture told the story of Japan’s efforts in the 1930s to promote and publicize her imperial mission in Northeast China to skeptical audiences both at home and abroad. To illustrate his points, Dr. Guelcher showed a lot of Japanese photos and picture postcards from that period. Our president, Dr. Zhang Xunjie, as well as Chinese teachers from the School of Foreign Language and International Trade and some foreign teachers attended this lecture, and all had a good discussion with Dr. Guelcher afterwards during questions and answers.
