How to Prepare Thanksgiving Turkey

Thanksgiving Day is a very important holiday in America. In the morning of this year’s Thanksgiving Day, students from UPS and Hwa Nan gathered together in the International Faculty House and were busy preparing Thanksgiving Dinner. One group of students took turkeys out of the refrigerator, pulled out the internal organs, and then cleaned them with water in the sink. For another dish we placed a pot on the gas stove, lit the fire, and put in butter. When butter had melted, we added garlic, onions, carrots, and celery together and sautéed them. On the other side of the stove several other students boiled the water in a big pot, and added four packages of chicken bullion, and stirred with the ladle until the bullion dissolved.

We put melted butter, pepper, and turkey seasoning in a bowl and stirred it together. Then we spread this seasoning on the surface of the turkey. More students took parsley flakes, celery flakes, and black pepper and sprinkled them on the sautéed vegetables the other pot. When the cooking vegetables were completed they were stirred together with small slices of bread and the chicken bullion broth to make “stuffing”. We put the turkey in the convection oven to roast. The cooking turkey emitted a delicious fragrance.

Finally the students and the teachers used pens and paper to make the finger-hand turkey shapes. Then we inscribed them with “I am thankful for …”
