To implement the  important instruction of General Secretary Xi Jinping on vocational education and the spirit of National Vocational Education Meeting, Hwa Nan invited Dr. Gong Sen, Director of Fujian Vocational and Technical Education Center, to give a lecture of Interpreting Key Issues of Vocational Education Reform.  Council Chair Su Mengna, administrators and all faculty and staff attended the lecture.  Starting with the situation and opportunity of vocational education, Dr. Gong Sen gave comprehensive, accurate, vivid and detailed interpretation of the background and the meaning of introducing National Vocational Education Reform Implementation Plan and Vocational Education Action Plan for Enhancing Quality and Cultivating Excellence, as well as its main content, policy priorities, innovative points and its implementation, by integrating his many years’ research, rich vocational education experience and typical case studies.

Dr. Gong Sen pointed out General Secretary Xi Jinping gave important instructions on vocational education at the National Vocational Education Meeting in the first year of the period covered by the 14th Five-Year Plan, which indicates the Party and the state attach great importance to the vocational education and the spring of vocational education is coming.   He made in-depth analysis on the transformation of vocational education, and gave interpretation on the policies and  measures of the integration of ideological and political theory instruction, the specialty construction with Chinese characteristics to support industries, the building of vocational training centers, the skill competition of vocational schools, the vocational school teachers’ teaching innovation team building, and the pilot program of "1 + X Certificate" in the context of "teachers, teaching materials, teaching methods" reform.

President Ren Jianhong fully affirmed the importance of the lecture in guiding Hwa Nan’s quality enhancing and excellence cultivating.  She said vocational education has a great prospect and Hwa Nan shall align with the development trend of vocational education, pursue high-quality development as our main task, deepen "teachers, teaching materials, teaching methods" reform, and contribute to the cultivation of more high-quality technical professionals and consummate craftsmen.
