On the morning of October 14, the International Cultural Corridor unveiling ceremony and a roundtable discussion on foreign teachers and Hwa Nan was held on Yan Tai Shan campus, one of series events for Hwa Nan’s 113th anniversary celebration.  Council Chair Su Mengna, President Ren Jianhong, Vice President Zhang Qiuping, Vice President Huang Leijing, senior alumnae representative Ma Xiufa, He Xiaozhi and Chen Xiaolu, some authors of the book International Faculty with Fujian Hwa Nan Women's College Since 1908, and representatives of faculty, students and junior alumna attended the ceremony and the roundtable.  The event was mastered by Vice President Huang Leijing.

At the ceremony, Vice President Huang Leijing told the intention of setting up the International Cultural Corridor.  The International Cultural Corridor is about the story of international faculty and Hwa Nan, which embodies foreign teachers’ love for Hwa Nan, Hwa Nan’s international character, and the aspiration and mission of Hwa Nan.  She said the cultural corridor is our gratitude and salute in the hope of ushering a new chapter of international friendship.

Ma Xiufa said the Cultural Corridor recorded the stories of foreign teachers and Hwa Nan, reflecting the profound friendship between China and other countries.  She wished all Hwa Nan people carry forward Hwa Nan spirit in the new journey, press ahead and create remarkable achievement in the new centenary.

Afterwards, alumna, faculty and student representatives visited the Cultural Corridor.

After the visit, the roundtable discussion on foreign teachers and Hwa Nan was held in Madame Ko Xinmou Memorial Room.  President Ren Jianhong pointed out that the Cultural Corridor is a cultural brand for Hwa Nan, which will inspire everybody to make contributions to develop Hwa Nan into a high-level international university.  The speech stirred up a lot of memories of attendees.  They recalled the time when they studied and worked at Hwa Nan with nostalgia and gratitude.  Council Chair Su Mengna thanked foreign teachers for their help.  She learned from them the advanced education management concept.  She proposed to pass along the love and culture to students and pass on the Hwa Nan spirit from generation to generation.

October 14 is the Double Ninth Festival of China.  The festival gifts and the Double Ninth Festival porridge were prepared for Ma Xiufa, He Xiaozhi and Chen Xiaolu to wish them health and longevity.  A video was made to send festival greetings and blessings to Gordon and Sonia in America.
