On March 8, 2023, Fujian Vocational College Elderly-care Service Skill Competition successfully closed. This competition was hosted by Fujian Education Department, Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Fujian Province, Department of Finance of Fujian Province, Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Health Commission of Fujian Province, Fujian Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Communist Youth League Fujian Provincial Party Committee, and Fujian Chinese Vocational Education Society. Hwa Nan was the organizer of the event. Twenty-six students from seven colleges participated the competition.
The two-day competition was comprised of two work settings and four modules, mainly testing competitors’ operation and execution ability, knowledge application ability, analysis and problem-solving abilities, and the humanistic solicitude. Competitors sank their teeth into the competition. Their smooth operation, exquisite skills, and cautious attitude fully showcased the strong foundation of knowledge, the fine-tuned skills and the good spirit, demonstrated the teaching level of participating schools, and reflected the progress made in the teaching of the Aged Care programs of Fujian vocational colleges in recent years.
Though it was the provincial level competition, the rules and the marking schemes of the competition were made in align with the requirement and the standard of the national competition. This competition extensively examined students’ skill level of the aged care programs of Fujian provincial vocational colleges, strengthened intercollegiate exchange and improvement. Through the skill competition, teaching, learning, and reform were further advanced and students’ interest in learning and enhancing vocational skills was stimulated.
