Director Roy Robinson from University of Puget Sound Visited Hwa Nan

On the morning of May 8, Roy Robinson, Director for International Programs at University of Puget Sound, visited Hwa Nan.  President Jianhong Ren, Vice President Leijing Huang and heads of relevant departments and offices met with Roy.

 Director Roy Robinson observed with interest Hwa Nan students’ demonstration of Chinese traditional culture and technique in flower arrangement, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese zither playing and creating tea art in cups or dian cha in Chinese.  He also visited Hwa Nan History Gallery to get further knowledge of Hwa Nan’s centennial history.  Roy spoke highly of Hwa Nan’s education history and its efforts of carrying forward the Chinese traditional culture.

 At the meeting, Director Roy Robinson and President Jianhong Ren introduced to each other the education and the talent training of each institution.  They had in-depth discussion on intercollegiate cooperation and faculty student exchange.  Roy said Puget Sound and Hwa Nan had a long time of exchanges and had fostered solid friendships and profound trust.  He wished to further advance the cooperation between two schools in the new era.  President Ren said Hwa Nan and Puget Sound had a long cooperative history and a good foundation for cooperation.  She noted the goals and the belief of both schools were the same and she hoped the two institutions work together to promote student growth.

 The gifts were exchanged after the meeting.  Hwa Nan presented Director Roy Robinson a Chinese Painting of Hwa Nan Scenery painted by Hwa Nan teacher Haibing Li.  The gift is to wish the tree of Hwa Nan – Puget Sound friendship be evergreen.  Roy thanked for the gift and said he would hand it over to President Isiaah Crawford.
