To boost the willpower of students and develop the spirit of pooling the strength and forging ahead, new students admitted this year put all their efforts into a fourteen-day military training. On the afternoon of October 20, the military drill and commendation meeting was held in the sports field. Council Chair Yu Rongmin, President Ren Jianhong, Party Secretary Li Tingwang, Deputy Secretary Wu Lanjia, all mid-level administrators, staff and student counselors attended the meeting.
The military drill kicked off with the solemn national anthem and the national flag raising. The formation composed of students from Culture and Education Department first appeared on the field. With neat and uniform movement, they formed the characters of Hwa Nan Motto “self improvement, exploration, diligence, dedication”and General Secretary Xi’s inscription for Hwa Nan “women are not inferior to men, Hwa Nan women of distinction appear one after another” to convey their wishes for the 115th anniversary of Hwa Nan. Eight other military training classes held your heads up high, chanted slogans loudly, and marched past the podium in a steady, neat and uniform pace, demonstrating Hwa Nan students’ fine spirits of self disciplined and forging ahead. The training classes from twenty-six to thirty-three, impassioned and high spirited, performed the song of “be loyal and serve the country” with the sign language. Military training classes from sixteen to twenty-two showed eye catching and massive performance of military sports boxing reflecting unity strength.
Later, Deputy Secretary Wu Lanjia read the commendation decision on commending outstanding groups and individuals in the training. Hwa Nan leaders presented awards to the winners of Military Training Excellent Pace Maker, Military Training Excellent Dormitory Sanitation, Military Training Spirit Award, and Formation Drill Award.
Party Secretary Li Tingwang said the military training produced fruitful outcomes, thanks to joint efforts of People's Armed Forces Department of Taijiang District, training instructors, school offices, counselors, and students. He emphasized the military training is one important content in the education reform and education quality improvement. He hoped the habits and the spirits of resilience, tenacity and perseverance developed during the training period will be adapted in students’ future study. All students should work hard and forge ahead boldly, writing a splendid chapter of the youth and contributing to realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
