On September 24, the 36th Student Congress successfully convened.  The congress was attended by Deputy Party Secretary Wu Lanjia, heads of Hwa Nan Youth League Committee, Youth League Branch Secretaries, and other one hundred and forty student representatives. 

The congress started in the solemn national anthem.  Deputy Party Secretary Wu Lanjia on behalf of Hwa Nan Party Committee delivered an address to the congress.  She affirmed the work achieved by the student congress in the past year and she raised four hopes for teenage students, student organizations, and Youth League and Student Congress cadres.  First, she hopes all the youth students carry forward the fine tradition, have the motherland in mind, aim high, and firm up the convictions of unswervingly following the instructions and guidance of the Party. Second, she hopes all Hwa Nan students keep pace with the times, work diligently, enhance competency and polish the color of youth with talents. Third, she hopes Youth League organizations at all levels play positive roles to forge ahead with resolve, make innovative development, and actively play the bridging role.  Fourth, she hopes student cadres improve competency, shoulder responsibilities, make dedication and ensure good services for students.   

Lin Jialin on behalf of the 39th Student Union gave a work report to the Congress, reviewing the Student Union’s work after the 35th Student Congress and expressing his expectations for the next year.  The congress elected the presidium members of the 40th Student Union through secret ballot.
