To improve teachers’ teaching skills, enhance teachers’ comprehensive competency, professional level and innovative ability, and prepare teachers for 2024 vocational college teaching skill competition, recently Hwa Nan invited Tai Luming, Vocational Education Division Director of Fujian Institute of Education, and 2023 National Teaching Skill Competition Judge, to give a lecture on enhancing teachers’ teaching ability under the guidance of the Competition.  President Ren Jianhong, Vice President Zhang Qiuping, Vice President Huang Leijing, Deputy Party Secretary Wu Lanjia and all teachers listened to the lecture moderated by Dean Pan Shaofang.

Using important instructions given by General Secretary Xi on vocational education as an entry point of the lecture, Director Tai Luming carefully analyzed series of documents on faculty development and 3Ts reform.  By integrating his rich experience as a judge for national competitions and many years’ teaching and research practice, he elaborated the guidance provided by the competition and gave his interpretation of core competition content including teaching content, teaching design, teaching implementation, teaching evaluation, and reflections and improvement.  Through demonstrating good cases, he explained the basic requirement of material submitted to the competition and the judging criteria, and gave detailed explanations on teaching design, innovation, curriculum reconstruction, lesson plan making, script design, video filming, and report writing.  He also shared with the audience the problems encountered in the competition.

The lecture has rich content, advanced idea, strong foresight and vivid cases.  It plays a guiding role in preparing teachers for teaching skill competitions and promoting Hwa Nan’s 3Ts reform, and sets the course for all teachers in teaching design, classroom teaching, teaching evaluation, teaching reflection and improvement.
