Hwa Nan Delegation Visit Morningside University Promoting International Cooperation and Exchange

On June 5, Council Chair Yu Rongmin together with the other two members of Hwa Nan delegation visited Morningside College in the United States in the company of Chen Li, a Hwa Nan alumna from Hwa Nan North American Alumnae Association.  Dr. Albert Mosley, President of Morningside College, Dr. Chris Spicer, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Erin Edlund, Vice President for University Engagement, and Terri Curry, Special Assistant to the President,  warmly welcomed the delegation.

The two schools conducted two sessions of discussions on cooperation and exchanges.  In the first session, Hwa Nan delegation and President Mosley reached consensus on 3+1 for Hwa Nan students, doctoral degree attainment for Hwa Nan teachers, summer research and teacher exchange.  Both agreed the two schools have historical linkage and should strengthen cooperation in various forms for common development.  In the second session, Hwa Nan delegation showed Hwa Nan promotion video and introduced the majors offered at Hwa Nan to Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of International Exchange Center of Morningside University.  They discussed in detail the matching of majors, credit transfer, forms of learning, scholarships, and academic research.

After the discussions, Hwa Nan Delegation, accompanied by the Special Assistant to the President of Morningside University, toured the campus and the library.  They saw the paper-cut of the three presidents of Hwa Nan College stored in the library.  At noon time, the delegation gathered with the leaders of Morningside University and the teachers who had participated in the teacher exchange program and the 3+1 project at Hwa Nan.  Chen Li, as an alumna of both schools, recalled the meticulous care of the teachers she had received while studying at Morningside University and the impact of the 3+1 project on her life.  Her expression of gratitude and love for the two schools moved hosts and guests present.  The leaders of the two schools expressed their hope to see the results of the project in September next year.

At the end of the visit, President Yu Rongmin presented Morningside University the soft wood paintings of three representative buildings on the campus of Hwa Nan College, and gave each participant a scarf printed using trees and grass collected from the campus of Hwa Nan.

Looking forward to the future, Hwa Nan will steadily promote the cooperation projects with Morningside University for the lasting friendship between the two schools and for training more talents with international vision and excellent ability.
