On October 13, 2024 Craftsman Cup Skills Competition for hourly workers in the family service industryin Fujian Province was held at Hwa Nan. The competition was jointly organized by Fujian Family Service Industry Association and Fujian Finance and Trade, Textile and Other Light Industries, Tobacco and Medicine Union Working Committee, Fujian Family Service Industry Union and Fujian Hwa Nan Women’s College, and co-organized by the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Taijiang District, Fuzhou. Zhuo Xiaoluan, member of the Party Group and vice chairman of the Provincial Women's Federation, Ren Jianhong, President of Hwa Nan, Lin Fan, Deputy Director of the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Taijiang District, Fuzhou, and Wu Lanjia, Deputy Secretary of Hwa Nan, attended the event.
On the day of the competition, the campus was filled with a warm competitive atmosphere, and twenty contestants from all over the province gathered together, with their superb skills and enthusiasm for domestic work, launching a peak showdown of skills and creativity.
The competition was divided into five modules: cleaning glass, folding clothes, making meals, making selective meals, and cutting skill and making platters. The players were nervous and engaged throughout the whole process, and presented a feast of domestic skills with their dexterous hands.
The on-site judging panel was composed of senior experts and skill masters in the domestic service industry. Zhang Min, Program Director of Modern Home Service and Management in the Department of Health Services of Hwa Nan, commented on the performance of the players after the competition representing the judging panel.
In this competition, the student volunteers majoring in Modern Home Service and Management in the Department of Health Services of Hwa Nan actively participated in the volunteer service. They not only undertook the logistics support tasks such as on-site guidance, reception and material deployment, but also contributed their youth strength to the successful holding of the competition. Moreover, through this precious opportunity, they closely observed and learned the practical operation of outstanding housekeeping practitioners, enhanced their level of professional knowledge and practical ability of housekeeping, and understood the quality spirit of craftsmen seeking truth and pragmatism in the new era.
As the earliest vocational college in Fujian Province to set up the home economics major, and the governing unit of the national home economics industry integration of industry and education community, Hwa Nan will take this competition as an opportunity to continue to optimize the construction of the training base for the integration of industry and education in the home economics field, build a vocational skills exchange and display platform for the home economics industry in Fujian Province, and help the home economics industry in Fujian Province to develop into a refined, standardized and professional development.
