To break the boundaries of traditional classrooms and deepen the Foreign Language + Professionalism education model, Fujian Hwa Nan Women's College recently organized an immersive English field trip to the Fuzhou Panda World. President Ren Jianhong and Vice President Wu Lanjia attended the event to offer guidance, accompanied by Professor Gordon Trimble (Foreign Expert) and his wife, along with faculty and student representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office, the Department of Culture and Education, and the Department of International Business Management.

The trip relocated the English classroom to nature. Under Professor Trimble's guidance, students engaged in multidimensional language training, role-playing as English interpreters and foreign tourists. They introduced giant pandas' habits, diet, and conservation status in English, honing their impromptu speaking skills through immersive interaction. Bilingual Q&A sessions allowed students to apply newly acquired vocabulary and sentence structures in real-world contexts.

Focusing on the panda as a symbol of Chinese culture and panda diplomacy, students delivered mini-presentations on introducing panda culture to the world. This exercise enhanced their ability to convey China's ecological wisdom and philosophy of peace in authentic English, boosting cross-cultural competence and cultural confidence.

President Ren and Vice President Wu encouraged students to integrate classroom knowledge with practical experience, urging them to look beyond textbooks to strengthen their language proficiency and comprehensive qualities. They emphasized nurturing versatile professionals ready for global challenges.

The trip combined wildlife conservation education with practical language application. As a follow-up, Professor Trimble assigned a special post-trip task: students will refine their English commentary and produce short videos based on on-site observations and footage, aiming to tell the story of China's pandas more vividly to the world.
